One of our favourite brands of backpacks is Chrome Industries
Is an American brand the specialises more than 10 years in making bags for cyclists. They were so successful that now they don’t only do messenger bags, but all kinds of different backpacks, clothes and shoes.
Today I am talking about the backpack that for 3 years I carry with me everywhere. The Chrome Industries Yalta 2.0 Night Backpack. I use the backpack to go to work every day. It has several advantages that an urban cyclist wants and needs to move around.
Some of the advantages of this model are:
1.- They are waterproof. So if you get caught in the rain in the middle of a journey you do not have to worry about what oyu carry inside the backpack.
2.- The separate compartment for the computer, just in the back, offers a lot of protection for your work tool. You can carry computers up to 15”.
3.- There are already reflectors worked into the shoulder straps so that the cars that come in front of you will see you better. The Yalta 2.0 Night model also has a very large reflector on the back so you are more visible to cars than with the standard model.
4.- If you do not have the Night model, you can choose to use the loops you have to put a back light.
5.- The back is padded with EVA foam that gives more breathability.
Chrome Industries backpacks stand out for their robustness and durability. They are incredibly hard and you can “above” them enough without breaking them. It’s like a Brooks saddle, over time they become more charming :).
In my case, I use it daily, but I also wear it some weekends since its capacity of 29 liters makes it very useful to put enough clothes, toiletries, some books, your laptop and even some spare shoes. That stiffness and durability, carries a higher weight than other types of softer backpacks. In life you can’t always have everything thought. And yes, the weight is the only negative factor of this backpack from my point of view. All the rest is great and highly recommended.
